Who we are
Relicbridge is a US software engineering practice. The engineers on Relicbridge engagements are senior, US-based, and have shipped production software on the stacks we migrate from as well as the ones we migrate to. We do not staff engagements with junior developers or offshore teams, and we do not intend to grow in a way that would require us to.
We use AI tooling in the open, as a named part of the method, because it changes what a small senior team can do with a large old codebase. It does not change who is accountable for the result.
Why this niche
Application modernization is a large, fast-growing market. Almost all of the tooling and most of the vendors are aimed at the easy middle of it: .NET Framework to .NET 8, Java 8 to 21, mainframe COBOL with a large budget behind it.
The systems that quietly run mid-market companies are different. They are WebForms applications from 2008, VB6 desktops from 2001, Classic ASP intranets, Access databases with ten thousand lines of VBA, and FoxPro applications whose original author has retired. No automated converter targets them well. Large integrators do not want mid-market engagements. The owners of these systems are left choosing between a slide-deck assessment and an offshore rewrite.
We think that is the most under-served corner of the modernization market, and the one where senior engineers plus AI tooling change the economics the most.
How we engage
Hourly, on a time-and-materials basis, as project engagements or staff augmentation. Scope is agreed through an initial conversation and revisited as the work teaches us more. No percentage of "savings", no license fees for anything we build, and everything we produce lands in a repository you own.
We have no commercial relationship with any migration-tool vendor, cloud provider, or model provider that would affect what we recommend.
What we will not do
- Pretend a converter's output is a modernized system.
- Estimate a whole rewrite from a reading of the code.
- Take on work we do not think will succeed.
